What to Know When Designing a Perennial Garden
A perennial garden incorporates plants and flowers that will continue to bloom one year after the next, with the proper care, of course, and will allow you to enjoy your garden without the need for replanting.
Choosing just the right type of perennials involves considering the climate zone in which you live as well as the type of soil in your garden. You'll also want to create a specific plan before laying out your perennial outdoor space that includes factors such as placement, color, watering needs, and whether or not the plant life you're using needs full sun, partial sun or shade. As a general rule of thumb, the majority of perennials will require full sunlight in order to thrive.
Gurney's Seed and Nursery Co., our featured merchant of the month, is the place to go for all of your planting needs as well as for planning your perennial landscape design. Gurney's has a colorful selection of perennials, including shade plants, a variety of fragrant and gorgeous roses, and a rainbow of other choices such as carnations, daylilies, mums, phlox, and poppies to pick from.
