February Garden Calendar – Fighting Weeds and Fertilizing Plants

Armed with fixed copper sprays and clippers – the second half of February should concentrate on killing fungus and over-wintering insect eggs, as well as clearing away dead branches. We suggest paying a visit to the local nursery to take advantage of bargains on bare root plantings to enhance your landscape. This is also the time of the year to start fertilizing your plants, eliminate crabgrass, and fight weeds. We also want you to become very familiar with two important herbicides (Pendamethalin and Dacthal). Other gardening suggestions for this month can be found on our
